| Old Settler's weekend 2007 is the 84th Annual Dodge County celebration. This event is the perfect opportunity for our elderly and toddlers, native North Bender's and brand new residents, alumni and non-alumni, strangers and long time friends, current residents and past residents, neighbors from surrounding towns, and guests of all involved to gather and celebrate our heritage, our friendships, and our community. The Old Settler's tradition started in North Bend in 1889 with the first gathering on July 4th and nearly 4000 in attendance. The bands, military, fire companies and other civic organizations saluted the "Old Settler's" as they passed. A grand procession was formed and marched in review of the Old Settlers who were then escorted to Mr. Cotterell's Park where a basket picnic was enjoyed and many speeches given. The event has evolved to our present day Old Settler’s annual event including a carnival, Alumni Golf Tournament, swim meet, road run/walk, ball games, fireworks, and more but our Old Settler's weekend is very much the same today as 1889. It continues to be a celebration of heritage and community. You are welcome to browse the event listing.
